Gooey Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting

Holy yum. Before I even start I just want to say that this cake is life changing.

So I went to Ikea a few weeks ago with my mom and stumbled across this adorable cake stand that neither of us could resist especially for that price. I've never had a pretty cake stand before so I of course wanted to bake a cake to put in that cake stand!

It literally took me ages to decide what kind of cake to make because a.) I'm indecisive b.) Everything  looked delish. The main struggle was I kind of wanted to make something fruity and pretty and summery, but then chocolate... After settling on chocolate cake then there was the debate should I make peanut butter frosting? cookie dough? Nutella? But I decided to go with the classic combo of chocolate and peanut butter, literally cannot go wrong.
I eventually settled on chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and it did not disappoint. I used this recipe here and let me tell you this cake is so good. I must admit I was a bit skeptical because it doesn't use any butter and the batter was super thin and the cakes looked a little funny coming out of the oven.

Now before I continue my mom and I worship boxed cakes. They are so simple and churn out the most perfect cakes, that are light, fluffy, and moist and this cake has the lightness and moistness of a boxed cake.
The only alteration I made to the recipe was I ended up adding more peanut butter to the frosting because the original recipe wasn't quite peanut buttery enough for me, but other than that it's delicious.

I'm also quite proud of my frosting job. I'm quite obsessed with naked cakes at the mo' and I love the way this turned out. I think I've said this before but I love rustic looking baked goods, they're just so cute!

Anyways, if you're not convinced yet you need to go bake yourself this cake and enjoy every bite because you will not regret it!

// Links //

With this past week over and done summer is quickly coming to a close. I finished up my internship in Georgetown and I am now focusing on getting packed and ready to head back to school on Wednesday. It's always sad to see the summer go but I'm excited to get settled back into school and a routine and begin my senior year of college! Which is really scary and intimidating but I'm also excited! I've been lacking on posts recently but today I wanted to share some fun links with y'all! Warning, a lot of these are related to gymnastics and Olympics because I love the Olympics and gymnastics is one of my favorite events to watch.

In case you didn't know but I am obsessed with the Olympics, the US gymnastics team is adorable and this interview of Aly Raisman and Simone Biles is no exception.

An extra 40% off all Anthro sale!!

The 1 dessert you should try in every state.

Going with the Olympics theme, I watched this really interesting documentary about a month ago that explains the success of the US gymnastics team. 100% worth the watch.

Recently discovered this blog and I love it.

Again, sticking with the Olympics/gymnastics theme I just discovered Shawn Johnson's YouTube channel and I am kind of obsessed with it.

10 lakes in Europe you must visit, this gives me total wanderlust.

Heck yeah! 21 moments from the Olympics that make you proud to be a woman!

Dream Home

I've been super into looking at interiors and furniture and such recently. Not that I am never not into that sort of stuff but I've just been even more into it recently. I think it's partly due to the fact that I will have my own bedroom at school this year and I jus want it to look cute and partly due to like I said I just like looking at interiors and such.

Anyways, there are a bunch of furniture pieces and home decor things that I found that I would love to own one day when I have my own place. Which as the title suggests this is my dream home and, price point wise a lot of this is not really realistic. Especially considering I'm pretty sure not all of it can even be shipped to the US if I were to ever buy it... But nonetheless I wanted to share some of these pieces because I why not?!

I want to talk about interior styles I like real quick. I really like kind of an eclectic look, mixing and matching a little bit of everything. But with that I love mid-century modern and appreciate a touch of Scandinavian (which the two kind of go hand-in-hand) but also incorporating those with more classic and/or trendy pieces. Like I said my style is very eclectic, think Domino magazine... lol

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven // eight // nine // ten // eleven // twelve

I totally didn't plan this but I am quite excited by the fact that everything matches! If you can't tell I am also quite into pastels, gray, and chartreuse at the moment too! I'm not going to lie but just looking at everything together makes me really happy!
