It's finally Satur-yay!! Hope everyone out their had a great week! My week started off with a bang (so cheesy), or a bust. But Monday evening my car broke down at a stoplight, literally one minute I was sitting, waiting at the light and the next the light was green and my car wasn't moving. By some miracle I managed to get it off the road, but it was kind of traumatic and there were definitely many tears and phone calls involved. Anyways long story short the engine is busted and is currently being replaced. But other than that this week has been pretty smooth sailing, but I am for sure glad the weekend is finally here and I of course have some fun links to share today!!

73 Questions with Saoirse Ronan, have I mentioned that I love her?!

As I'm sure many of you are well aware the Nordstrom Anniversary pre-sale started this week!! A things I'm loving: this sweater (tho I do not need more sweaters), these pants, this top, and may have already bought this tee. Also can't decide if these shoes are cute or too extra/frilly...

I generally like to keep these links posts pretty light, but this article by Rachel Held Evans is v good.

Rose ice cream!?!? (Also if you haven't tried the Angry Orchard Rose Hard Cider I highly recommend)

Chloe Bruderer. I recently discovered her on Design Love Fest after saving basically all of the wallpapers she designed, but I am obsessed with her designs. She started a hashtag called #hotboiwithlacroix and it is seriously the brilliant thing ever, exhibit A.

5 Make-up trends that are currently trending in Korea.

I have been making this granola on repeat, no joke.

In case you haven't heard National Ice Cream Day is on Sunday so here is where you can get free ice cream.

Omg Ariana Grande's new song. queen.

Korean Skincare for Beginners

As I've briefly mentioned previously Asian beauty products have always peaked my interest, which I think things that aren't American peak my interest in general but that's another story. But more recently I have actually been getting even more into Korean beauty and skincare (and fashion). Anyways my interest and curiosity led me to purchasing a handful of products and I have developed a whole new little routine. Approaching K-beauty can be a little intimidating especially if you're new to it. In case you didn't know Koreans are very gung-ho about skincare, so in return the skincare industry over there is insane and there are tons and tons of products. I wanted to make a post to not only document my experience so far but also if you're interested in K-beauty and new to it too then maybe this will help you out a bit!

If you are new to K-beauty and you want to learn more I've found Soko Glam to be a great resource. If you Google anything about Korean skincare it won't be long until you come across the phrase "10-step skincare routine," which I agree sounds a bit daunting. But Charlotte Cho breaks down each step perfectly here and explains the reasons behind each step. I also highly recommend her book The Little Book of Skincare, which goes way more into depth about Korean skincare and just skincare in general.

Before I get into the fun bits I'm going to talk about my skin type real quick. So I unfortunately was blessed with acne-prone skin, combination skin that leans more towards the side of being oily. So my t-zone for sure gets oily and my cheeks are drier but they aren't dry to the point of getting dry patches or anything.

So this is for sure I very, very basic routine consisting of only 4-steps. I couldn't quite bring myself to the 10-step routine just yet because a) my previous "routine" consisted of only 2 products and b) even though K-beauty is more affordable your girl doesn't have that kind of money. So I broke down what looked like the most important steps and focused on that. So the steps I focused on were the double cleanse, tone, and moisturize.

Step 1: Cleanse with an oil cleanser
So I start my routine off by cleansing my skin with an oil-based cleanser all over my face. I have been using the Banila Co Clean It Zero cleanser. I know oil cleanser sound scary, but this honestly melts off all of make-up and oils that have built up on my skin and leaves my skin feeling soft and ready for the next steps. To use this I just take a little bit of the cleanser massage over dry skin and then rinse it off with some lukewarm water.

Step 2: Cleanse with a water or gel based cleanser
Now that I've washed off all of my make-up it's time to actually clean my skin. So I wash my face, again. Double cleansing is actually something I did previously and it honestly makes a difference. I've been using this Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser which this cleanser is just a really good basic cleanser.

Step 3: Tone
So after all the washing it's time to use a toner! Toners are made to cleanse the skin (again) as well as reset the pH balance of your skin and prep it for absorbing products that you are going to put on next.  I have been using the Acwell Licorace pH Balancing Cleansing Toner. I chose this toner because it isn't super harsh and it has a lot of ingredients that are good at brightening acne scars which I've been all about recently.

Step 4: Moisturize
Finally I apply my moisturizer. Moisturizing is a super important step, even for those of use with oily skin, as this is most effective in maintaining the health of your skin. An added bonus it will also help prevent fine lines and wrinkles in the future. The moisturizer that I have been using is the Cosrx Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion. I have been loving this moisturizer because it's super moisturizing without feeling super heavy on my skin.

I also want to point out that I do have a few products on my wishlist too that I have been wanting to add to my little arsenal. First is an essence, which is apparently the basis of a Korean skincare routine. These are used between the toner and moisturizer and are formulated to tackle more specific issues. The one that is currently on my wishlist is the Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. Snail mucin is apparently a super great ingredient for repairing your skin as well as brightening hyper pigmentation. I've also been wanting to get my hands on the Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Wine. This just looks like a super cool and innovative exfoliant that is also convenient and gentle.

So that is my current K-beauty skincare routine! I do try exfoliate about twice a week too, but I have just been using a gentle Aveeno exfoliant that I already had for that. I haven't been using these products long enough to say I've noticed a difference in my skin, but what I can say is that I have been enjoying doing this little routine. It's actually really relaxing to take the time to do this every morning and night.

I hope this was helpful for anyone who wants to dip their toes into K-beauty as well and I defiantly plan on keeping you all updating on this little K-beauty journey!

Can we just have a moment for the fact that we made it, it is finally Friday!!! Can I just say this past week was the longest week ever and for literally no reason. I had a little getaway last weekend at the beach with a few friends and came home early Monday morning. While our trip was definitely much needed and loads of fun, I have just been feeling drained and slightly under the weather this whole week. So I am so looking forward to have this weekend to just chill and celebrate Father's Day too of course!

A really interesting article on how we treat the heads of fashion houses as well as the role they play in the brand.

Mental health is extremely difficult to understand, for both those of us who struggle with it and those who don't. With everything going on in the news recently these two pieces on Darling that focus on the myths and meanings of depression both seemed extremely relevant, with one focusing on treating depression and one on how to offer support for depression.

PSA Reformation is now sold at Nordstrom. Can I just say Nordstrom always has their finger on the pulse and never fails me.

In honor of Pride here's a little tidbit on the history of the rainbow flag.

I've been getting into Korean fashion recently so I was all over this article on 6 affordable Korean brands you should know about.

While I'm on Korean things I picked up this book from the library and it is actually really enlightening. I also may or may not have made a cheeky little order on Soko Glam after slightly panicking over how little I do for my skin.

Wit & Delight wrote this great read on Kate Spade and celebrating her life.

6 living rooms that prove you don't have to sacrifice coziness in order to have a pretty space.

I'm not going to lie I do like nice things but I am also notoriously thrifty and rarely pay full price for anything. Here are some helpful tips, including things that I actually do, on how to snag deals on great pieces.

Last but not least this Who What Wear list of travel essentials is legit goals, like can I one day be this fab when I travel??

Summer Wishing

Summer season is officially here!! Even though it technically isn't summer yet until June 21, Memorial Day is the unofficial beginning of summer. So I'm not going to lie the changing of the seasons has left me inspired and I have been doing a lot of browsing and shopping recently and have been eyeing up a number of pieces. Since it's been a minute since I've shared a wishlists of sorts and I have been falling in love with everything I wanted to share a few of the things that I have found extra dreamy recently!

I have to admit I don't have the most colorful wardrobe but things are for sure looking quite colorful this year. In case you couldn't tell I have been totally digging all things yellow and rainbow this season. Also if I'm being honest a few of these items may have already snuck their way into my wardrobe, like this scarf, this hat, and these shorts. Also I have completely fallen in love with basket bags and I die a little bit inside every time I see one of these little round crossbody bags. Another thing that I am a complete sucker for is a good graphic tee (and Reformation) but when I saw that Reformation came out with this cacio e pepe tee I knew I needed it, aka will probably buy the second is comes back in stock. Another trend I have been loving for this season that isn't quite as apparent on this list is anything with buttons, dresses, tops, skirts, you name it. If it buttons I want it.

I hope this gave you some good inspiration for summer!! What are some pieces you have been eyeing for summer?

Happy Memorial Day weekend!! Yay!! Summer season is officially here!! Not gonna lie I am excited but I also kinda hate shorts and humidity (random). But alas I honestly think May and June are some of the prettiest months of the year here in good ol' Virginia. The weathers warm but it hasn't reached peak heat and humidity yet and all of the flowers are blooming, and all the mosquitoes and chiggers aren't out yet... Anyways my week wasn't all that exciting I've mostly just been counting down the days until payday and the Memorial Day sales lol... Also currently mourning the death of my left shift key on my laptop (aka my most used shift key) and it's making typing life difficult (also first world problems). Anyways I have some fun links for you to browse through this weekend and it's a lot of fashion related posts which I'm excited about!!

If you're looking for some warm weather outfit inspo this Glitter Guide post is so dreamy.

I can't believe the Royal Wedding was already a week ago!! I'm loving this post on what guests wore to the wedding. Hats are basically the best part of British weddings.

I admit I basically only wear giant ugly t-shirts to bed, but this post on pretty summer pajamas are literally made for dreaming. One day I will have a wardrobe full of pretty pjs.

So I wouldn't ever describe my style as "street" but recently I have found myself intrigued by street style and taking a peak at Hypebae. Which apparently I'm not the only one as this article on Who What Wear about pieces that define "Hypebae style" definitely caught my attention.

Yay!! Here's a reason to celebrate! History was made in Ireland yesterday!!

Making burgers this weekend?! Get yourself some Martin's Potato Rolls (aka the only hamburger buns) and whip up this recipe of Shake Shack's burger sauce.

If you need something to do this weekend here are all of the movies and tv shows leaving Netflix next month, so be sure to check them out before they're gone!!

Last but not least the link you have been waiting for, Refinery29 did us all a solid and compiled a huge list of Memorial Day sales to check out this weekend!!

Hi everyone! Super long time no talk!! I figured the best type of post to do when I haven't posted in ages is, of course, another links post. Hope everyone's week has been going well, mine has been dece. The weather over here is iffy, last week it was burning up and this week it has been none stop rain. But I'm so glad the weekend is here!! My weekend will be spent visiting some friends and obsessing over the Royal Wedding, which is tomorrow!! Fun fact: the last Royal Wedding I wasn't interested in it at all until it happened and it suddenly became the most interesting thing in the world. I remember sitting at my friends house one Friday and me, her, and her mom were oogling at the whole ordeal, I mean the Royal Family is no joke... lol I also can't wait to see the babies!! Prince George and Princess Charlotte and know little Louis are the cutest.

Currently dying over Aspyn Ovard's Tarte collab. I usually don't buy a ton of expensive makeup but I might have to splurge on this palette because it is seriously what dreams are made of.

Speaking of collabs the Cath Kidston x Alice in Wonderland collection is so adorable.

If you're feeling peachy I just picked up this earring set and ring set and am obsessed.

Eek!! The Royal Wedding is this weekend!! Will you be tuning in? Here are some wedding themed treats to help you celebrate.

Also if you aren't sure how to watch the wedding here is your guide!

One of my favorite food bloggers, Molly Yeh, just announced this week that she is going to have a show that is premiering on Food Network and I'm totally here for it.

I this is last weeks news, but the Kris Jenner x Kylie Cosmetics is one of the best things I have seen in ages. I have to admit the Kardashians are totally a guilty pleasure of mine.

Love this little Amsterdam post with Taramilktea on Anthro's blog. Also if you don't follow Tara on Instagram you need to.

As someone who struggles a lot with emotions, especially negative ones, here's a great article on Man Repeller on how to be less of a "Debbie Downer".

Omg. This girl is literally living the dream.

One-Piece Swimsuits under $50

Ah! I took a tiny break last week, as I've been struggling with feeling motivated and inspired. But the slight changes in the weather and slightly longer days have left me excited for the warmer months ahead, thus I have begun getting excited about spring/summer fashion.

Now that we're at the start of spring break season, and summer follows shortly after I wanted to share some cute swimsuits. Plus all of the stores are coming out with their swimsuits and I have seen tons of cute options. I know it does feel kind of early to be shopping for swimsuits, but you also want to grab them before they're gone!

// 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 (ugh same style diff color the yellow is already sold out) // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8 //

Just like every other girl in the world I am not a fan of swimsuits or swimsuit shopping. I love swimming and going to the beach, so I'll grid my teeth and put on a swimsuit. But they are just never something that I feel 100% good in. With all of that being said I have definitely been all over the one-piece swimsuit trend lately. I say lately but you're talking to grandma over here, I've always been a one-piece girl. While I have worn bikinis in the past because they were "cool", the second one-pieces started becoming more acceptable again I was all over it.

I have been seeing so many cute one-pieces this year too and I wanted to share some of my finds! I also made sure all of the ones I included were affordable too because it can often be hard too find cute one-pieces that aren't over $100. And lets be real, who wants to spend loads of money on something that they don't feel 100% in and that's going to be getting dirty in anyways?!

Saturday, March 10, 2018

Hi everyone! Long time, no talk! I've actually been feeling a little blah recently and I unintentionally took a little break. I've just been struggling with feeling motivated and inspired recently. Which I don't think is a good excuse for taking a break, but I guess I'm not trying to make excuses either just explain where I've been. Anyways apparently these are the only posts that I know how to post... but what can I say, I enjoy them. I mean I try to keep up with the times... lol

So if we're being 100% honest I actually half wrote a links post for last week that I just wasn't feeling so I never ended up posting it. But, looking back I still want to share some of the links from that post... so... some of this is recycled... Which also explains why there are so many links this week. But the majority of these links are fairly light i.e. most of them are shopping related or have to do with upcoming things being released for spring/summer, which I'm personally excited about!! So grab yourself a cup of tea or some coffee and have a nice browse through everything!

Starting off from last week:

Have I mentioned I love Adam Rippon?? Well, I love Adam Rippon and here is the cutest interview of his mom.

Will she ever stop talking about the Olympics?? Maybe... In the meantime I loved this post of the most powerful pictures from the Pyeongchang Olympics.

Can I please stay at all of these lovely boutique hotels??

O.m.g. Target is collating with Hunter boots!?

Discovered this hashtag on Instagram the other day and am obsessed.

Now from this week:

Did you see what Old Navy did for International Women's Day?!

Ladies here's how you can run for office! I actually took a class on women in politics last year and it's actually v. true there is a deficit of women involved in politics. So if you ever feel inclined to run for office here's how!

Saw this pajama set in Madewell earlier this week and think it is the most adorable thing ever.

As I've said I'm not a big beauty gal, but I'm dying over Lancome's new spring collection. These macaron blushes are everything.

7 ways to declutter your life, I for real need to work on decluttering and sometimes a quick little article on decluttering is all I need for some motivation.

Probably the most basic thing I could post but Target now carries Yes Way Rose. While I have very little hope for the actual rose, the packaging is literally everything.

With spring around the corner I am totally in the mood for some spring shopping and I'm loving this outfit inspo.

10 Places I'd Like to Travel to Next

Coming home from Amsterdam the other week has left me energized and ready to go out and see the world. Travel has always been something I've loved and wanted to pursue, but there's always something about coming home from a recent trip that leaves you feeling recharged and inspired.

One of my favorite things is sitting down and dreaming up all of the places I want to visit one day. Not thinking about practicalities just dreaming big, so I thought it would be fun to share my top 10 places I want to travel to next! I actually wrote a draft of a similar post a few years back but for some reason never got around to posting it. It's interesting looking back at that post because while a lot of the places are the same, I have since been to a couple of the places that were once on that list! So here's a list of 10 places that I've never been to, but are at the top of my list to visit next!

1. Switzerland
Switzerland has been at the top of my list for years and will probably continue to be until I one day go because it looks gorg.eous. Nestled in the middle of the Alps Switzerland is full of crystal blue lakes, snowcapped mountains, and lush green hills. They're also known for foods like fondue, raclette, rosti, and chocolate so like sign me up, please.
2. Copenhagen
As a lover of Scandinavian design I've just been dying to go to a Scandinavian country to see it in action. Which really anywhere in Scandinavia has been on my list for awhile but Copenhagen is definitely the first on the list. Which is mostly because a.) Copenhagen looks adorable b.) it's home of The Little Mermaid and c.) it's also the home of my beloved brand Hay.
3. Miami
As an American and an American who wants to travel I think it's easy to dismiss places in the US, we often forget how vast the US is and how many cool places there are. While I know Miami has a bit of reputation as a party town, there's so much more to Miami than just clubs. It just look beautiful and it's full of art deco buildings and is a city full of art and culture.
4. Iceland
What a change of pace, Miami to Iceland? Again another destination that has been on my list for ages just because it looks beautiful. I'd just love to explore the country a bit and see the Blue Lagoon and the Northern Lights (omg!). Our layover to Amsterdam was actually in Iceland which I was excited about but let me tell you the Reykjavik airport isn't all that exciting, and it's on this little peninsula so you literally see water until right when you land.
4. Japan
So admit I do have a soft spot for Europe, but I've been itching recently to go somewhere completely new and Japan is certainly at the top of that list. I know Japan is kind of the "trendy" Asian place to visit right now, but it just looks so cool!
5. Brighton, England
Okay so I have been to England (twice), but I've never been to Brighton. Which at the risk of looking like some huge Zoella fangirl. But she made this blogpost ages ago (like before she moved there) about visiting Brighton and ever since I knew it was a place I needed to go. Between the beach and the pier and the little town it just looks like the most adorable little town ever.
6. Portland
Another USA destination I'm dying to visit, along with Portland I also want to go to Seattle and Vancouver. First the Pacific Northwest just looks beautiful (see a theme?). Portland just seems like such a cool "hipster-y" city and it's most famously known for books, coffee, and donuts so the real question is who wouldn't want to visit?
7. Bali
I don't know a lot about Bali other than it looks beau.ti.ful. and warm and sunny and again gorgeous. Admittedly, I've mostly been wanting to go because I've seen other bloggers pictures and been like um, yes please.
8. Thailand
Again I don't know a ton about Thailand except that I want to go. Again it just looks beautiful and they have Thai food, so who wouldn't want to go?
9. Brazil
The only South American destination on this list, but I have been wanting to visit Brazil for ages. Again very different from anywhere I've been but I've just always been interested in going to Rio de Janeiro, it looks v cool.
10. Austria
Had to finish with another destination in my beloved Europe. Austria is home of the alps (so pretty), weiner schnitzel (um yum), and The Sound of Music (um yes please). I mean I have a thing for Europe and quaint European towns.

What are some places that you'd like to visit next?

Hi everybody!! Another week, another links post! I'm actually super excited about the links I have to share this week which I know I say every week, but really this weeks set of links are v special. Given I've been watching a lot of Olympics this past week I have a lot of Olympic related posts to share. Which it's only fitting that I'm watching the Olympics as I'm writing this, what am I going to do next week when they're over! Anyways in the meantime have a browse through some of the fun things that I'm sharing this weekend. Enjoy!

I know I'm not the only one who was excited by the ice dancing results. I have to admit I may have been rooting for Canada a little bit (or a lot).

Which I mean, I ship it (which I'm cringing at saying but it's tru).

Also have y'all heard of Elizabeth Swaney, an intermediate skier who competed in the Olympics. Her story about how she made it into the games is wild and I'm also a bit torn of how I feel about it...

Raise your hand if you love Adam Rippon. If your still not convinced just look at this.

I know I mentioned the Team USA Ralph Lauren uniforms the other week, but I've also been kind of into these NASA inspired snowboarding/skiing uniforms.

Another boi everyone loves, Timothee Chalamet.

Anna Wintour and the Queen of England getting all buddy, buddy.

I mean you've probably already seen this but these pictures of Anna Wintour and the Queen of England at a fashion show are everything.

All about the rainbow stripes for spring and this dress is no exception.

This amazing round-up of steals under $30, none of which look under $30.

Looking for something to bake this weekend? Well, I made these this week and I'm kind of obsessed, they are so. good.

I've been trying to read more this year (and struggling at it), but I'm really liking the looks of this list of books to read.

Last if you haven't seen this new brand at Target you must check it out, it's very Madewell-esque at a fraction of the price.

Thank you so much for reading!!

Amsterdam Souvenirs

As I was brainstorming ideas of what to post today I thought it might be fun to share what I bought while I was in Amsterdam. In case you didn't know I just got home from a fun little jaunt to Amsterdam this past week and am obvi very excited about. But as kind of a little preview of what's to come and what all I got up to I thought it would be fun to share the little trinkets I bought.

So at some point I really want to create little city guides for all the places that I've been too. Previously my travel posts have just been me sharing where I went, what I did, and some pictures to go along with that, which a city guide would essentially be that but also a little more in-depth and hopefully they'll be a useful tool for anyone planning upcoming travels to use. But I currently have no idea what that will look like so in the meantime enjoy looking at the things I bought (lol).
Things I bought:

Tony's Chocolonely // This chocolate is everywhere there, which I already knew a little about it thanks to World Market. Not only is that chocolate really good but it's also fair trade/slave-free chocolate which is super cool. So I obvi bought 3 giant bars because I'm supporting a good cause and getting chocolate, it's a win-win.

Wilhelmina Peppermints // I mean these are just mints but we got these at a restaurant after one of meals one day and they were really good. So when I saw them in a shop while checking out at an airport I had to grab a box.

Postcards // Aren't these the most adorable little postcards?! I got them from a little cafe we ate at called Pluk. It was not only the cutest little place but they also had a little shop and I couldn't resist picking up a couple of these super adorable postcards.

Hay Pens // Hay is one of my absolute favorite design brands (I've totally mentioned them before). Even though it is a Danish brand when I saw that there was a little store in Amsterdam I had to go. The only thing I had room for were obviously just these pens, but hey, I love stationary and they are the most adorable pens.

Necklace // Restored was definitely top on my list of stores I wanted to visit. After seeing dozens of pictures of the facade on Instagram I knew I had to go. Luckily it was right around the corner from our Airbnb and was finally able to drop by on our last night. I was feeling spend-y and wanted to get something special and feel in love with this necklace when I saw it.

House // This was my last purchase of the trip, bought in the airport like the classy lady I am (lol). I usually try to stay away from a lot of touristy things like this as it all just usually turns to clutter, but again I was feeling sentimental and wanted something special to mark this trip. In case you didn't know Amsterdam is chockfull of houses with adorable facades like this so when we stumbled across these mini-houses I couldn't say no. I thought they were super darling and the detail is amazing, you can't see it in the picture but it actually has tiny little clogs hanging in the window and flowers that snake around to the back. It's the perfect little shelf accessory.

As you can probably tell I didn't buy a lot mostly due to 1.) I wasn't trying to spend a lot of money and 2.) I only had a carry-on that was already stuffed so I didn't have much room for anything either. But I did manage to pick up a few cheeky things.

I'm back at it with some more links! Hope everyone out there had a great week and a fun Valentine's Day. My week has definitely been great as I started this week off in the beautiful city of Amsterdam! Which I love Amsterdam and am already ready to head back and explore the city even more! Quick self plug: check out my Insta for some cute pics of what we got up to! Despite just getting back home on Wednesday I am totally already itching to hop back on a plane. The trip has definitely left me feeling refreshed and inspired and ready to tackle life (anyone have any jobs that will pay for me to travel?). Anyways I've been so good making regular posts recently I couldn't miss out on todays links post, which I do have a lot of fun things to share!

Starting off on a more serious note, I usually like to keep things upbeat on here but in the wake of yet another school shooting I can't just brush past this. This is the 18th school shooting this year and the 30th mass shooting this year and let me remind you that it is only February. If this isn't a call for action then I do not know what is, while keeping victims those affected in our thoughts and prayers is a nice sentiment it will not prevent these shootings from happening in the future. Action must be taken to ensure the safety of not only American citizens but especially the children and teachers of our country. Luckily with a little light research here are 5 ways that you can start fighting gun violence now, be sure to check out this website to see your representatives stance on gun control, and here is a simple text that you can send to help join the movement to end gun violence.

Anyways back to regular programming...

I know Valentine's Day has come and gone but if you're still feeling post Valentine's Day blues here are 19 adorable things you can treat yo'self with (or just drool over).

This recipe is actually from last week, but I was just looking at it and I might just have to make some of these this weekend.

I've been v into street style recently (attempting to be cool) so I'm definitely drooling over these street style looks from NY Fashion Week.

With the Olympics in full swing take a trip down memory lane on the best Olympic figure skating costumes.

This essay is surprisingly encouraging for someone who just graduated and is very confused on what the "next step" looks like (ugh cringing at that cliche) aka me. Everyone likes to talk about their achievements but no one focuses on their failures or the before aspect and it's a nice reminder that success isn't automatic.

Hope you're not sick of hearing me talk about Liv yet but this post she made on friendship is definitely worth checking out. ALSO! She just launched a Podcast this week that I highly recommend!

I have to admit I fangirled a bit this past week when I realized Zoella's Amsterdam trip overlapped with my own. Despite the fact that we went to a lot of the same places I sadly didn't run into her. But you can bet I was definitely keeping close tabs on her over on Instagram (is that too creepy to admit?).

Absolutely loving Poppy's Valentine's Day look, which who says this look is exclusive to Valentine's Day?!

I admit I am not the neatest human, and I'm sure dozens of other creative types can agree. Here's a great read on how tidying up can help with productivity and creativity. Not that I've ever disagreed but it is certainly a nice reminder.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Hope you have an amazing day and enjoy spending time with your loved ones!! If you're reading I just want to say thank you so much for following along!! I still feel new to this blogging thing. I'm definitely not the most consistent but it has been something I enjoy and has been a fun creative outlet over the past couple of years. Anyways hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day and if you are looking for a sweet treat I highly recommend these blondies!

This week has been a week, I feel like so much happened! I mean there was the Super Bowl, the Kylie announcement, now the Olympics, and NYC fashion week just started! Who knew so many things could be happening in February. I'm actually super excited for the Olympics to start, I seriously love the Olympics. I can't say I'm super into sports but omg I love the Olympics and I'm especially partial to the Winter Olympics. Which if you're not watching the opening ceremony tonight then what are you doing? loljk I'm not watching them either because I'll be on the plane bish! But more on that later *insert winky face*. Now onto some exciting links, again I'm super excited about everything that I'm sharing with you today! So cozy up with a big mug of coffee or tea and get ready to dig in!

Starting off incase you have been living under a rock this past week Kylie finally broke her silence on her pregnancy!!! She announced her pregnancy and birth in this Instagram post and uploaded this video about her pregnancy which may or may not have made me tear up a little (oops...).

Also check out Team USA's opening ceremony uniform, designed by Ralph Lauren of course. I have to say the gloves are eh and a little over the top, but the jackets are heated!!

Totally lusting over these jeans that Madewell just dropped, the cut is perfection but the price tag not so much.

This interesting note on fashion week and what's to come, who said fashion isn't political?

In the same vein of fashion week Pantone released their color forecast for Fall/Winter 2018 and I think it's so interesting. They also curated these amazing images to help portray their color palette and it's amazing (seriously jealous of that person's job).

I know I mentioned Timothee Chalamet last week, but Frank Ocean interviewed him here and it's great.

All of the heart eyes for Gray Malin at the Coral Casino. I love the pastel and retro vibes of it!

I discovered this Instagram account this week and my! am I obsessed. I am obsessed with the little puppy, her pink nose is the most adorable thing I've ever seen.

Finally, the cutest macaron DIY.

Valentine's Day Blondies

So I warned you Monday I have a bunch of Valentine's Day posts lined up and that I kind of love Valentine's Day despite the fact I'm single. The thing with Valentine's Day too is that I feel like Valentine's Day is much more centered on the thought behind the gift as opposed to the gift itself. I know I made a cheeky little gift guide the other day, but homemade things always seem that much more special on Valentine's Day. Which I'm also all for another holiday centered around chocolate but shh!

When I sat down to brainstorm ideas for some seasonal bakes, blondies seemed like an obvi choice. I mean they're simple to throw together in a pinch, delicious and just toss in Valentine's Day M&M's and all of a sudden they're holiday appropriate. Which these definitely aren't the fanciest things to bake up, some of us just enjoy the simpler things in life. This recipe came from my mom and it is literally the best blondies. Not only do they have a perfect caramel, brown sugar flavor but they are also soft and gooey in the center and crispy around the edges. So go ahead and whip these up and share them with all of your favorite people.
Also quick note, for some reason I find the thought of a couple staying in and making these on Valentine's Day hilarious. Definitely not the most romantic dessert, but who needs romance when there are blondies right?

Before I get into the recipe I actually have a few notes on a few changes I make when I do bake these. First the batch I made in the photos I actually halved the recipe which is why they are baked in a square pan. Next the recipe also says to bake them in a 15 1/2x10 1/2-inch jelly roll pan, I usually just bake them in a regular 9x13-inch pan and that has always worked out fine, so don't stress if you don't have that specific jelly roll pan. The original recipe also calls for just chocolate chips, which you are free to use if you want to, but since I wanted to be festive I replaced the chocolate chips with M&M's.  Which with the M&M's I like the mix about half of them into the batter, pour the batter in the pan, and then sprinkle the rest of the M&M's on top. My final note is just be super careful not to overbake these because then they just turn into a rock, so just keep an eye on them.
 Blondies Recipe
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 package (12 oz. or 2 cups) semisweet chocolate chips (or M&M's)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease and flour a 15 1/2x10 1/2 jelly-roll pan; set aside. In a saucepan melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat; add sugar and stir until dissolved. Add eggs and vanilla; continue beating until smooth, scraping sides of saucepan occasionally. Stir in flour and salt until just blended. Fold in chocolate chips (or M&M's). Spread in prepared pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Do not overbake.

Valentine's Day Gift Guide

Despite the fact that I'm single af I have begun to grow a strange fondness for Valentine's Day. Which I think is partially due to the popularization of the new holiday known as Galentine's Day (thank you Leslie Knope) and I have just fallen in love with the cheesiness of the whole holiday, all the super girly pink hearts and everything just get me every year. I know single people are supposed to hate Valentine's Day, but for some reason I don't... I think it is just a great excuse to celebrate the loved ones in your life whether they are romantic relationships or not.

So with all of that being said of course and of course me admitting I love the cheesiness of the holiday I of course have a gift guide full of pink and red and hearts. So whether you are on the hunt for a gorgeous something for the lady in your life or your just looking to treat yourself you have most certainly come to the right place!

I have to say I love everything and looking at it all next to each other just makes my girly little soul sing. I have to add one more little plug and say that if you check anything out be sure to take a peak at kikki.K's Valentine's collection because it is literally to die for. Also brace yourself for the Valentine's Day posts because I have a fair few coming up!

I'm on a roll with these Links posts! But too much has been happening recently for me to not want to share some of my favorite Internet finds, and let me tell you this week is a good one! It's also February! Which is not only my birthday month but I'm also heading to Amsterdam this month which do I even need to explain how excited I am?! I am impatiently counting down the days. Anyways I am feeling pretty good about this weeks links post and kinda of love everything I'm sharing, so be sure to have a good ole browse. Btw I also actually took my own little "flatlay" for todays post and think it's super cute... so yeah...

The best interview between Saoise Ronan and Timothee Chalamet. Not only are these two incredibly talented actors but they are also just really intelligent and down-to-earth human beings. I could keep gushing about the two of them but I'll let you see for yourself.

In case you haven't heard the Grammys got a lot of backlash this week after only one woman won an award in the general category. Neil Portnow, the Recording Academy President, released a statement claiming that women needed to "step up" if they wanted to win awards. Well I think P!nk articulated the perfect response to that statement.

It was announced this week that Tom Hanks is set to play Mr. Rogers in an upcoming movie about him. I grew up watching and loving Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, so I was super excited that they were making a movie on him and honestly Tom Hanks is the perfect choice for playing Mr. Rogers.

Do you remember that awkward gift exchange between Michelle Obama and Melania Trump during the Inauguration last year?

I've been toying with the idea of investing in Tarte Shape Tape concealer even though it has amazing reviews I am having a hard time swallowing the $27 price tag. But I have good news for all of you who feel the same! This Makeup Revolution concealer is supposedly a dupe to the Tarte concealer and is only $7, needless to say I am itching to get my hands on this.

One word: Miami. I've randomly been dying to go to Miami and this post from Aspyn is certainly feeding those desires.

NOTICE: If you are in the market for a teddy bear coat RUN don't walk to your local H&M because I just picked one up from there this week for $15, fifteen dollars!! Sadly it's not online but definitely go check out your nearest H&M!

If you love Dior and you love Harry Potter then you must check out this Instagram. It's called Gryffindior, need I say more?

Winter Coat Cheat Sheet

One of the things I have realized as I've grown older is that not every winter coat is treated the same. Which I'm not just talking about quality and price, but depending on the material different coats are better suited for different types of weather.

I was recently doing a bit of research on the best type of outerwear for my upcoming trip to Amsterdam, as the average highs will be in the 40s and I often fall into the trap of thinking 40 degrees isn't cold. Anyways I was surprised how hard it was to find any information on what types of coats are best suited for different types weather, as you wouldn't wear the same jacket in 0 degree weather as you would in 40 degree weather.

I decided to take it upon myself to do some research on winter coats and create my own guide to winter coats that has all the information you might need in one place. Below I'm going to be focusing on different materials that winter coats are often made out of and the pros and cons of each material as well as the appropriate weather for each type of coat.

This is definitely going to be a functional over fashion post so if you came here in search of finding out the difference between a pea coat and a duffle coat you may want to look else wear. With that being said though I do believe that you can find fashionable pieces for each category, so I've included a few examples of coats at different price points for you to check out!

So if you're in the market for a new coat you have come to the right spot! I know I'm posting this mid-season, but hopefully this will also be a great reference for any future coat purchases.

If you know me irl this will come as no surprise to you, but I am a complete wool advocate. Turns out wool isn't just timeless for the look, but the material is incredibly versatile also. Wool is a great insulator while still somehow remaining extremely breathable. It's also naturally water-resistant (note: I said water-resistant and not waterproof), but it naturally wicks away moisture from your body thus keeping you dry and toasty. Hence why wool is such a popular choice in cities like London where it's damp and cold year round. All-in-all I may be a bit biased but I love wool not only for it's classic coat styles but also it's versatility, but one thing you should not about wool is that when the weather drops below freezing wool isn't always the warmest option.

While down brings back childhood memories of my mom stuffing me into a giant marshmallow coat and sending me off to school, as an adult I am starting to realize how practical down can be and almost necessary depending on your climate. For example if you're living in New York City or further North down is a necessity. Made from goose feathers down is extremely lightweight but extremely insulating and is much warmer than wool. The only downside (sorry I couldn't resist) is that it isn't water-resistant and become basically useless once it gets wet. Though on the bright side you can find waterproof down coats. While down isn't the most stylish option it is most certainly a necessity for surviving harsh winters.

Recent innovations in fabric technology has made synthetic insulation another practical option in choosing winter coats and definitely something to think about. Combining wool/down with a synthetic material has become increasingly popular. For example adding synthetic technology to down you can create a waterproof down coat or adding synthetic insulation to wool can give you a warmer wool coat. Synthetic is going to be a bit more breathable than down so it definitely is a good option if your going to be active. Synthetic materials is also a good thing to consider if you're concerned about price as synthetic insulation is going to run a bit cheaper than wool and down coats.

Synthetic fibers can be really confusing as they often have more than one name. Most of the brands and companies that have developed these textiles have copyrighted and/or trademarked these fibers so they often aren't referred to as the same thing. But when I'm talking about synthetic I'm not referring to polyester and acrylic (both things you should stay away from when looking for a quality coat), but materials like Thinsulate, Thermoball, and PrimaLoft. These are all extremely technical fabrics that can compete with natural fibers like down and wool.

Now before I sign off I need to finish with the most important thing you should be doing when shopping for a quality winter coat and that is checking the tag and seeing what the coat is really made out off! Definitely check to make sure what your buying is what you think you are paying for. For example wool coats will often say wool blend but when you check the tag is will be only 3% wool, so definitely check the tags!

Hope this helped anyone looking for a winter coat!!

I know, I know I just made a Links post not even a week ago but there were just a lot more things that I got excited about, I couldn't not post one! How has your week been? Mine has been kind of slow, I've just been working and watching movies... But I am sorta looking forward to the Grammys this weekend. I'm not super into celebrities and such but award shows just get me, I would rather be watching the Oscars but w/e.... Anyways hope you enjoy some of the links I have to share!

Oscar nominations were released this week! Despite not being the biggest movie buff I love the Oscars... Which if your like me and have only seen a couple of the nominated movies here's how you can change that.

I think we can collectively agree that Millie Bobby Brown was the cutest on the red carpet at the SAG Awards.

Urban has the best graphic tees rn. omg. I love this one, this one, this sweatshirt, and I have of course been eyeing this tee for months.

While we're "shopping" I saw this swimsuit the other day in Target and am obsessed, it's so cute.

As I've mentioned I loved The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, so of course loved this super cute little clip of Rachel Brosnahan.

An interesting, and quick read, of what it's like being an immigrant in the US. These eight statements are all voices that need to be heard and are important in the conversation about immigration.

This great article about the 5 love languages you never knew about, my personal faves would be quiet time and gifs.

I'm loving Aerie's newest campaign, of course.

Last but not least if you have some extra money to spend the Diptyque Valentine's collection is to die for.
